| High Speed Camera pco.diamx HD/HD+ delivers Broadcast Image Quality The Cooke Corporation is introducing the newest addition to its high speed CMOS camera line, the pco.dimax HD/HD+ high speed CMOS camera. Similar to its predecessor, the pco.dimax, the pco.dimax HD/HD+ is based on a specially developed CMOS image sensor which achieves true linear response, at a slightly smaller resolution and more convenient price point.
This high speed CMOS camera system, pco.dimax HD/HD+, comprises advanced CMOS and electronics technology. With its sensitive 12 bit dynamics it enables remarkable fast image rates of 1469 frames per second (fps) in the full resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel (HD) and 1107 fps in the 1920 x 1440 pixel (HD+). User-selectable resolutions and speeds allow up to 90,260 fps at a useable resolution of 240 x 16 pixels.
The 24.2 (HD) or 26.4 (HD+) mm diagonal CMOS image sensor features 11µm pixels, peak quantum efficiency of 50% and is available in both color and monochrome formats. An internal offset stabilization negates the need for a mechanical shutter found in other high speed cameras.
Outstanding light sensitivity in combination with low read out noise electronics lead to highest image dynamics and broadcast proven image quality (SMI value 83 according to ISO 17321 standard). Additionally the camera features ISO speeds from 1250 to 16000 (mono) & 160 to 6400 (color).
The pco.dimax HD/HD+ features up to 36 GB of internal imaging memory and multiple trigger options to cover all applications including those mandated by the automotive industry. The image data is transferred via GigE Vision or USB2.0 (Camera Link optional) camera interfaces. The pco.dimax HD/HD+ has a smart battery control allowing for full operation for 1 hour or a data backup for 6 hours without external power supply. The global snapshot shutter provides exposure time from 1.5 µs to 40 ms. Inter-camera (master-slave) synchronization allows for precise synchronization in applications with for up to 5 high speed cameras, e.g. dynamic 3D analysis. The pco.dimax HD/HD+ can be equipped with IRIG-B input to allow for accurate time stamping of images.
The pco.dimax HD/HD+ camera system is specifically designed for automotive off board safety tests with its smaller form factor, numerous trigger options and smart battery control. But it is equally suited for demanding high speed applications in the area of industrial, scientific, military and biomedical areas. Applications include combustion, ballistic and missile imaging, material testing, short time physics, impact tests and super slow motion movie clips.
