Applied Energetics Announces Electron Beam Applications Center
TUCSON, Ariz., Nov. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Energetics, Inc., (NASDAQ: AERG) announced today that its advanced technology electron beam accelerator is now available for customer demonstrations in the new Applications Center in Tucson. The Applications Center contains the Company's Nested High Voltage Generator (NHVG) accelerator system and a Visitor's Center. The facility is designed to provide customers access to the Company's products and to enable demonstration of the new system for processing of materials, and other customer applications. The Applications Center provides a unique range of capabilities facilitated by leading NHVG electron beam system with a wide range of applications. Customers are encouraged to see the industry's most compact design and verify the benefits of e-beam irradiation for their material processes by working together with Applied Energetics' experts.

The NHVG is a very compact, inexpensive accelerator that can be utilized for in-line processing as a complete solution with minimal impact on existing industrial processing facilities. The system can be configured to include the accelerator, scanning system, and material-handling equipment as required by a customer's unique requirements. Electron beam applications include cross-linking of plastics and polymers, curing of composites and adhesives, sterilization of disposable medical supplies and food/drink packaging, treatment of air and water-borne pollution, X-Ray inspection of cargo and vehicles, verification of material integrity quality, electron beam research, and ion accelerator implantation for semiconductors.

Joseph Hayden, President of AE, commented, "This new Applications Center demonstrates Applied Energetics' commitment to our customers' most challenging production and processing requirements. This capability is a result of our strategic initiative to transition the leading-edge technologies we have developed for our government customers into industrial systems that can provide new capabilities to commercial manufacturers. Electron beam processing offers significant processing advantages over other technologies, but has not been widely adopted due to the size and cost of more traditional electron beam systems. We believe these barriers have been addressed by our compact, solid state NHVG architecture. Industrial customers now have the opportunity to utilize our NHVG electron beam accelerator in our Applications Center on their own applications and materials to better understand the capabilities and value that this new system can bring to their manufacturing processes."

Interested customers can learn more about AE's NHVG electron and ion beam accelerators and reserve the Electron Beam Applications Center today by calling AE Sales at (520) 261-7213 or emailing hvsales@appliedenergetics.com. Applied Energetics and Laser Light Technologies Announce Micromachining Partnership
TUCSON, Ariz. — October 13, 2011-- Applied Energetics, Inc. (NASDAQ: AERG), and Laser Light Technologies, Inc., today announced that they have entered into a Cooperative Work Agreement to jointly develop ultrashort pulse lasers and processes for the laser micromachining market.

Under terms of the agreement Applied Energetics (AE) will provide an ultrashort pulse (USP) laser to Laser Light Technologies (LLTI) for the purpose of developing processes and methods for conducting micromachining of a wide variety of materials. LLTI will provide AE expertise on micromachining of materials at AE’s Laser Applications Center, and also provide feedback on the optimization of processes for use in the development of future USP laser systems. Additionally, LLTI will be able to sell AE’s USP lasers to their customers on a commission basis.

Joe Hayden, President of Applied Energetics, commented, "We are very excited about this partnership with LLTI as it will greatly expand our knowledge about what is required within the micromachining industry, and essentially doubles the capability of our Laser Applications Center. LLTI is a well respected provider of laser machining services for a broad array of industries. They were the first customer to visit our Applications Center and their enthusiasm for the capabilities our lasers bring to their business is very encouraging as we expand into the commercial laser market.”

Frank Hannan, President of Laser Light Technologies, commented, "Our team looks forward to receiving AE’s USP laser and the new capabilities it will bring to our company. The results we have seen with the initial samples processed at the AE Application Center are very exciting. We believe that this will allow us to expand our business into areas we previously were unable to compete in, and benefit from the growing market for “cold machining” offered by USP lasers."

Phyllis Hannan, Founder of Laser Light Technologies, also commented, “We have been impressed by the people at AE and their enthusiasm and responsiveness to our needs. We believe that this partnership will benefit both companies, and that LLTI will now have the opportunity to sell lasers to customers when they decide to bring their micromachining production in-house."

Ultrashort pulse lasers are one of the fastest growing segments of the laser industry. Applied Energetics’ USP lasers have higher pulse energy, shorter pulse widths and higher average power than other USP lasers available in the commercial market, offering industrial users the flexibility to process a wide variety of materials at high throughput. Examples of materials already processed at AE’s Laser Applications Center include stainless steel, quartz, glass, graphite, copper and polymer materials.

Applied Energetics Announces New Ultrashort Pulse Laser Product Line
TUCSON, Arizona — September 15, 2011 — Applied Energetics, Inc., (NASDAQ:AERG) today announced the launch of its latest ultrashort pulse (USP) laser product line. USP lasers, also known as femtosecond lasers or ultrafast lasers, emit extremely rapid pulses of light at very high peak power and are capable of ablating virtually any material with high precision and no heat. This USP laser will be marketed by Applied Energetics (AE) as "The Wildcat" product line of commercial lasers.

The Company will initially target the micromachining industry and applications. The USP laser’s high-energy photons are able to directly break molecular bonds in materials, resulting in direct (“cold”) material removal known as ablation. These effects lead to cleaner, faster, more precise micromachining processes. USP lasers, unlike conventional lasers, can process hardened steels, semiconductors, ceramics, quartz, sapphire, diamond, polymers, and other difficult-to-machine materials without the thermal damage caused by slower pulsed lasers.

Applied Energetics cites several key advantages for its new product line: (1) Higher Performance than competitors means customers can get their work done faster; (2) Product Versatility allows customers to adjust pulse length, repetition rate, harmonics, and pulse modulation; (3) AE has years of experience building rugged military lasers for the U.S. Army, and Navy resulting in commercial systems that are able to cope with factory conditions; and, (4) ) Made in the USA means faster service - most USP lasers are currently manufactured by European companies.

Joseph Hayden, President of AE, commented, "Ultrashort pulse lasers have unique capabilities, enabling applications that simply cannot be done with other industrial lasers. The USP laser is an emerging technology which is growing for markets such as microelectronics, automotive, biotech, telecommunications, and medical device manufacturing. Our goal with this product line was to produce a rugged, compact, reliable, and easy-to-use USP laser system."

Potential customers can learn more about AE’s USP laser systems and reserve the USPL Applications Center today by calling AE Sales at (520) 261-7213 or emailing lasersales@appliedenergetics.com. Visit our Application Center Webpage for more details and specifications.
