| Active Silicon launches FireBird CoaXPress Series
Active Silicon, a world leader in frame grabber technology, announces the availability of its new line of CoaXPress frame grabbers in the FireBird range of high-speed frame grabbers.
The FireBird series is a new generation of high-speed frame grabbers following on from the successful Phoenix range, with the new FireBird range including quad, dual and single CoaXPress versions. All cards in the range use the latest FPGA families, DDR3 memory, and a super-fast 8-lane Gen2 PCI Express interface resulting in unrivalled DMA performance with no CPU intervention. The multi-channel cards can provide simultaneous video acquisition from each CoaXPress link, with each link supporting up to 6.25 Gbps (“CXP-6”) whilst simultaneously providing a 20.8 Mbit/sec uplink as well as 13W of power to the camera per channel. For very fast cameras, link aggregation can be used to provide multiples of the single coax bandwidth - for example a camera can use four links to provide a data rate of 25 Gbps. Long cable lengths are also supported - up to 40m at 6.25 Gbps and over 100m at 3.125 Gbps.
Drawing on Active Silicon’s expertise in multi-operating systems, the FireBird range is also supported under Linux, Mac OS X, VxWorks and QNX, as well as Windows 32 bit and 64 bit. Embedded system versions, such as PC/104 Express and XMC will follow on next year.
All Active Silicon acquisition solutions are provided with an easy to use, comprehensive Software Development Kit which allows integrators to develop applications quickly and effectively, together with a range of built-in third-party software drivers for packages such as Common Vision Blox, VisionPro, Streampix, MATLAB and LabVIEW. Support is also provided for DirectShow and QuickTime interfaces. Customers also have direct access to Active Silicon’s technical staff for systems advice, consultancy and integration work to ensure a successful completion of end-user applications
