Acktar Ltd.

Company Description
Acktar black light-absorbing coatings deliver extremely high absorptance in the UV, VIS and IR regions. Deposited using proprietary vacuum deposition technology, the coatings can be applied to virtually any substrate material, are only several microns thick, have no out-gassing, and are stable between 4K and 630K. Acktar coatings are used in numerous demanding stray-light suppression applications and are space-qualified and compatible with semiconductor lithographic processes.

Acktar Ltd. brings world blackest coatings to USA market
KIRYAT GAT, ISRAEL. Acktar Ltd. – a world leader in the development, industrialization, and production of vacuum-deposited ultra black light absorbing coatings – has announced its intention to actively enter the American market. Until recently, Acktar has concentrated on expanding sales in Europe and Japan. The company presently has subsidiaries in Germany (ACM Coatings GmbH) and in Japan (Acktar Japan Ltd.). Following very positive activities in the United States – in the delivery of a variety of black IR absorbing coatings for industrial uses – Acktar is planning the establishment of a permanent presence in order to be able to better service our expanding American customer base.
Acktar’s unique vacuum coating processes are presently providing unprecedented performance in a variety of optical and other applications. Acktar’s nano-structured materials and thin films offer the significant improvements in the performance of solar energy and hydrogen separation membrane systems.
In optical applications, Acktar’s coatings are the “world’s blackest” for absorbing stray light in optical systems and sensors. These coatings have become the default standard for major manufacturers.
Acktar is playing a major part in coating of critical parts for the new James Webb Space Telescope (the successor to the Hubble Telescope)-joint project of ESA, NASA and CSA. Acktar has been selected as "Supplier of Choice", responsible for the design, manufacture, and testing of the black absorbing coatings for a broad variety of parts of the NIRSpec Instrument.
Acktar has a strong heritage in providing advanced black absorbing coatings of critical components for Infrared applications. Acktar’s success is based on is its ability to generate coatings with an extremely high specific surface area and its ability to tailor the surface morphology of its completely inorganic, vacuum deposited coatings to the application.
Acktar’s vacuum coating technologies are totally environmentally friendly. Acktar’s technology replaces traditional acid-based etching, anodizing and plating, which are very harmful to the environment. A key facet in Acktar’s activities – and a central part of its mission and R&D efforts – is its contribution to maintaining a clean environment.
