13 March 2012 Touch Screen Power and Energy Meter from Thorlabs |  Thorlabs' PM200 Touch Screen Power and Energy Meter Console brings ease of operation and functional versatility to a new level. All relevant user elements are easy to both access and read on the large 5.7 touch screen. Many of the graphical elements are configurable or can be hidden if not needed. The display with VGA resolution offers high contrast, a wide viewing angle, and a 90° flip screen that enables use in either a portrait or landscape orientation.
The PM200 is compatible with all Thorlabs' power and energy sensors (photodiode, thermal, and pyroelectric sensors) for use from the UV to the Mid-IR. Customers can also connect their own custom built sensors (diode currents: 10 pA to 5 mA or thermopile voltages: 100 nV to 1 V) to enable manual or auto ranging functionality. For use with pyroelectric sensors, the console has four manual voltage ranges from 100 µV to 100 V. Spectral response curves can be uploaded so that power outputs are automatically corrected. Similarly, the console is capable of correcting for optical elements when spectral transmission curves are uploaded.
In addition to the abovementioned features, the PM200 Power and Energy Console can suggest a sensor based on inputted parameters such as beam diameter, wavelength, power, energy, and pulse length. It is also capable of calculating key laser beam specifications, including peak power, power density, and energy density. An add-on fiber inspection camera will be available in the coming months.
In addition to sensor and power inputs, there are four programmable general purpose i/o ports, two ADC ports, and one analog monitor output. The PM200 offers full remote control via USB. An additional USB port is provided for use with a flash stick for data storage when the sensor is not connected to a PC.
