About Portland
Portland is the largest city in the state of Oregon and is located in the Willamette Valley region of the Pacific Northwest, at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers. The city covers 145 square miles (376 km²) and had an estimated population in 2015 of 632,309 - making it the 26th most populous city in the United States.

It has been called the "City of Roses" for over a century and was named after the city on the coast of Maine (which was named after the English Isle of Portland). Portland ranks as the 8th most popular American city, based on where people want to live. This city is frequently recognized as one of the most environmentally conscious cities in the world because of its high walkability, large community of bicyclists, farm-to-table dining, expansive network of public transportation options, and 10,000+ acres of public parks.

Portland experiences a temperate climate with average temperature for March of 48 degrees F. This climate is characterized by warm, dry summers and cool, rainy winters.

Travel Portland
Blanketed across the confluence of 2 majestic rivers and within an hour of both the Pacific Coast and Cascade Mountains, Portland and its lush environs have something for nearly every lover of the outdoors. Hardcore adventureers can snowboard and run whitewater on the same day almost any time of year and still be back in the city for dinner.

More contemplative types might prefer a hilly amble through Portland’s urban, but seemingly boundless Forest Park. Anglers can drop a line for wild salmon where the placid Willamette River runs beneath downtown bridges. There’s surfing at the coast, kite-boarding on the Columbia, and miles of bicycling on non-vehicular paths. Rock climbing, golf, skate parks, birding; you name it and you can find it somewhere in or close to Portland.
