Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Huawei, and SPIE invite you to attend the 2019 Optical Design Challenge Sunday 3 February 2019.

Watch students from a variety of institutions show off their cutting-edge research aimed at improving any aspects of the optics in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR). It's an exciting day of poster session, pitches, award ceremony and reception.

1st:  Guanjun Tan - Near-eye light field display with polarization multiplexing

2nd:  Dongheon Yoo - 15 Focal Planes Head-Mounted Display using LED Array Backlight

3rd:  Andrea Toulouse - Virtual reality headset using a gaze-synchronized display system

• First prize: $5,000 cash
• Second prize: $2,500 cash
• Third prize: $1,500 cash

The challenge provides a unique opportunity for students to demonstrate design creativity skills and gain exposure to some of the industry’s top companies.

Participant information and a description of all projects will be listed on the conference website and in conference programe materials.

Winners will be recognized at the award presentation and reception, on social media, and local press.
