SPIE President will visit partner societies in Japan

SPIE President Katarina Svanberg (Lund University Hospital) will meet with Optical Society of Japan President Mitsuo Takeda (University of Electro-Communications), an SPIE Fellow and former SPIE Director, and Japan Society of Applied Physics President Yasuhiro Shiraki (Masashi Institute of Technology) for the signing of a cooperation agreement between SPIE and JSAP later this month in Japan.

During her visit, Svanberg will give an invited talk at the Optics and Photonics Japan meeting sponsored by the OSJ at Osaka University, on her work in laser spectroscopy techniques for early detection of cancerous tumors and treatment of various malignances with clinical application.
