SPIE Members are among TR35 'Young Innovators'

25 August 2009

SPIE Members Andrea Armani, James Carey, and Aydogan Ozcan are among the young innovators recognized by the MIT publication Technology Review as its TR35 for 2009.

With the "TR35" designation, the publication honors inventors and researchers under the age of 35 for their innovative work in medicine, computing, communications, electronics, nanotechnology, and related fields.

Armani, Univ. of Southern California, was recognized for her work in optical sensors; Carey, SiOnyx, for his work in "black silicon" light detectors; and Ozcan, Univ. of California, Los Angeles, for his work in lensless imaging devices.

Ali Javey, Univ. of California, Berkeley, a member of program committees at several SPIE events, is also among this year's TR35.
