Lasers help draw crowds to SPIE booth during Seattle Science Festival

11 June 2013

SPIE volunteers and staff shared photonics with more than 1,000 visitors to their booth at the Seattle Science Festival on 8 June, including treating more than 600 to standing-room-only presentations of the Laser Roadshow by Prismatic Magic.

Seattle-area volunteers including SPIE Members Eric Honea (Lockheed Martin Aculight) and Kenneth Moore (Radiant Zemax) along with Steve Moody (Orca Photonics Systems), Alan Stewart (The Boeing Co.), and Nick Luzod (Lockheed Martin Aculight) answered technical questions about optics and photonics, and helped SPIE staff demonstrate photonics principles using a large kaleidoscope and a laser graffiti station -- "drawing" with laser light on a black curtain.
