Schatz wins Feynman Prize

George C. Schatz, professor of chemistry at Northwestern University, has been named winner of the 2008 Foresight Institute Feynman Prize for theory in advances in nanotechnology. Dr. Schatz is an SPIE Member and longtime member of the program committee for the conference on Plasmonics: Metallic Nanostructures and Their Optical Properties at SPIE Optics+Photonics.

In announcing the award to Schatz, the institute said that the impact of his theoretical work on nanofabrication and single molecule sensing and characterization is leading technology toward development of molecular machine systems.
