Apollo Optical Systems and Sydor Instruments among those in Rochester optics hub

Businesses run by SPIE Fellow G. Michael Morris and SPIE Optifab Exhibition Chair James Sydor were included in a recent feature in the Rochester, New York, Democrat and Chronicle about the area's vital optics industry.

Morris, CEO of Apollo Optical, and Sydor, CEO of Sydor Optics, are among those in approximately 50 small and midsize optics and imaging firms in the area, along with several large multinational companies.

Apollo, whose products include lenses for LED lighting, saw a "turnaround year" last year, and Sydor saw strength in the market for its optics used in projecting 3D movies, the article notes.
