GE, Luxtera, and Solyndra are among TR50 'most innovative companies'

SPIE Corporate Member GE as well as LuxteraPrism Awards for Photonics Innovation and Solyndra, winners of Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation, are among the 50 companies named by Technology Review in the magazine's first TR50 list of "most innovative companies."

Luxtera won the Prism Award in Photonics Systems and Best of Show in 2008, and Solyndra won the Prism Award in Sustainable/Green Technology, also in 2008. The Prism Awards are sponsored by SPIE and Photonics Media.

Luxtera was included among the TR50 in recognition of innovative work in transmitting data faster, and Solyndra for a novel solar-panel design that captures more energy than other methods. GE was recognized for developing smart-grid innovations to increase efficiency and reliability in electrical energy systems.
