The application deadline for the 2014 Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship in Optical Design is 28 February. The scholarship is awarded to a student engaged in optical design of imaging or non-imaging systems.
The annual memorial scholarship was established in 1998 to honor Michael John Kidger, a well-respected educator, design software developer, and member of the optical science and engineering community.
The independent scholarship is administered by a select committee of leading optical designers and the Michael Kidger family. To learn more about the scholarship, visit the Kidger Optics Associates website at www.kidger.com.
The 2013 scholarship was awarded to Tamer Tawfik Elazhary, a PhD student at the College of Optical Sciences at University of Arizona and graduate research associate at the Large Optics Fabrication & Testing (LOFT) group.
The 2014 winner will be announced by the end of March, one month earlier than previous years. The award will be presented to the scholarship winner at SPIE Optics + Photonics 2014, 17-21 August in San Diego, California.
