SPIE Director Kristina Johnson named provost at Johns Hopkins University

Will be first woman in Johns Hopkins' No. 2 job

Dr. Eugene Arthurs, SPIE CEO says, "Dr. Johnson has been a pioneer, innovator and role model in our field, light, since her high school adventures in holography. She personifies multi-tasking, but through all she has consistently taken the time and interest to pass on her sense of excitement and encouragement to young people getting involved in science and technology. SPIE's leadership is delighted and not in the least surprised to see her move into this new phase at one of the nation's leading research universities."  Johnson is currently serving a three-year term on the SPIE Board of Directors.
