IPG Photonics is among top five tech stocks in Motley Fool list

04 January 2011

SPIE Corporate Member IPG Photonics has been named to Motley Fool's list of top five tech stocks for 2011. The investment newsletter cited IPG Photonics based on its dominant position in the fiber laser market.

"Just one word … lasers," said Eric Jhonsa in the Motley Fool article announcing the list. "Big changes have been taking place over the last several years in the seemingly boring world of industrial lasers. And those changes have turned one laser manufacturer in particular, IPG Photonics, into a growth story as compelling as anything found in the more hyped-up corners of the tech universe."

IPG Photonics is among finalists for the 2010 Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation, sponsored by SPIE and Photonics Media. IPG founder and president Valentin Gapontsev will join other industry leaders in announcing Prism Award winners at a gala awards banquet on 26 January during SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco.

The company also is exhibiting at Photonics West, and will present several technical papers at the event.
