David Huang wins Friedenwald Award

SPIE Member David Huang (Oregon Health and Science University Casey Eye Institute) has been named winner of the 2013 Friedenwald Award from the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).David Huang

Huang helped to pioneer OCT, recognizing that cross-sectional images could be generated and displayed in false color by scanning the laser measurement beam. OCT is used for the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration .

Huang has authored more than two dozen journal articles and conference proceedings for SPIE publications, and was among featured speakers in the BiOS Hot Topics session at SPIE Photonics West in 2011.
