Jürgen Jahns team at FernUniv. wins EOS Prize

23 November 2010

A team of researchers at FernUniv. in Hagen including SPIE Fellow Jürgen Jahns, Stefan Helfert, and Birgit Huneke have been awarded the 2010 EOS Prize.

The prize was given in recognition of their article on "Self-imaging effect in multimode waveguides with longitudinal periodicity," published in the February 2009 issue of JEOS. The EOS Prize aims to encourage a European dimension in research in pure or applied optics.

Jahns shared the 2009 Rudolf Kingslake Medal and Prize for a paper on "All-reflective planar-integrated free-space micro-optical femtosecond pulse shaper" published in the December 2009 issue of Optical Engineering.

Jahns has authored more than 30 articles for Proceedings of SPIE and in Optical Engineering, and has been a member of conference program committees at numerous SPIE conferences.

He is author of an invited paper to be presented at SPIE Photonics West in January on "Three-dimensional crossbar interconnection using planar-integrated free-space optics and digital mirror-device®."
