Larry Dalton honored for photonic polymer work

SPIE Fellow Larry Dalton (University of Washington) was awarded the Linus Pauling Award earlier this month in recognition of his work in research and development of polymers for electro-optic materials. Applications are in medical devices as well as products such as televisions and computers.

Dalton is the B. Seymour Rabinotich Endowed Chair in Chemistry and George B. Kauffman Professor of Electrical Engineering.

He has published more than 120 SPIE conference proceedings and several Optical Engineering journal articles in the SPIE Digital Library. Dalton is author of a paper on silicon and electro-optic polymer photonics to be presented at SPIE  Photonics West 2012 in January.

Dalton serves on several SPIE conference committees, including RF and Millimeter-Wave Photonics at Photonics West, Metamaterials: Fundamentals and Applications at Optics + Photonics, and Optical Materials and Biomaterials in Security and Defence Systems Technology at Security + Defence.
