SPIE Fellow Feijun Song (China Daheng Group Inc.), above, congratulated organizers of the Chinese Society of Optical Engineering (CSOE), on behalf of SPIE, on the founding of the new organization at ceremonies on 6 December in Beijing.
"The CSOE and SPIE share the same goals, the advancement of optics and photonics technologies," Song said. "We see the evidence of the advances in the innovative products and processes that spring from our communities. Such products and techniques, in medicine, energy, communications, data processing, etc., have already improved the human condition. With optical technologies, we will help in the fight against disease, monitor the changing environment, put in place sustainable energy sources and more efficient lighting, and bring better standards of living to the struggling parts of our world."
Song relayed greetings from other SPIE leaders including SPIE President Philip Stahl (NASA Marshall Space Flight Center) and President-Elect Toyohiko Yatagai (Utsunomiya University), and congratulated SPIE Fellow Jin Guofan (Tsinghua University) and others who worked for CSOE's founding.
Above, numerous guests and well-wishers joined in ceremonies marking the founding of the CSOE.
