Russian-Armenian University honors Maria Calvo

SPIE Fellow Maria Calvo (Universidad Complutense de Madrid)JPEG photo was named Honorable Doctor of the Russian-Armenian University during the Optics and its Applications symposium held at RAU in September. The SPIE Student Chapter at Yerevan State University and the National Academy of Sciences were the primary organizers of the event.

Calvo, SPIE President Katarina Svanberg (Lund University Hospital), and SPIE Past President Brian Culshaw (University of Strathclyde) each gave plenary talks at the symposium.

Calvo, who has just completed a term as President of the International Commission for Optics, was honored  by RAU her contributions to the theory of diffused light and optical waveguides, and for her extensive knowledge of optics.
