Sandra Biedron named to DOE particle accelerator committee

SPIE Fellow Sandra Biedron, Sandra Biedron JPEGprofessor of electrical and computer engineering at Colorado State University, has been named to the Fact-Finding Committee for Particle Accelerator Science and Technology for the U.S. Department of Energy.

Her appointment will involve Biedron in discussions with program managers, federal agencies, and experts in the industry on the future of particle accelerators and the advancements that could be made in the next 10 years. Biedron previously served as co-chair for Security and Defense Working Group for a report for Congress titled "Accelerators for America's Future."

Biedron currently sits on the SPIE Symposia Committee, and has served as conference chair and program committee member for several conferences at SPIE Optics + Photonics on x-ray, gamma-ray, and particle technologies.
