Featured exhibition demonstrations

MARS-Mobile Aerospace Reconnaissance System
Yiannis Karavas
stands in front of the MARS (Mobile Aerospace Reconnaissance System). The MARS system has Kineto Tracking Mounts (MTMs) used to telescopically track and image aircraft, rockets, orbiting spacecraft, and hypersonic test vehicles. MARS' telescopes provide high-resolution visible, infrared, and spectral imaging, and can be configured for manned and unmanned operation.

Virtusphere
Virtusphere
consists of a 10-foot hollow sphere, which is placed on a special platform that allows the sphere to rotate freely in any direction according to the user's steps. A user is able to walk and run inside the sphere, viewing the virtual environment through the head-mounted display. The sensors collect and send data to the computer in real time and user's movement is replicated within the virtual environment.

Laser Motive - Tethered VTOL
Tethered VTOL: LaserMotive flew a four bladed miniature helicopter fitted with a camera using laser power over fiber-optic cable supplying 70 watts of laser power. Company president Tom Nugent said the device will step up to 400 watts later this year, and grow to a working unmanned, multirotor copter, still small enough to stow in an SUV but able to fly up to around 1,000 feet away from the laser source.
