Paper Abstract

A high resolution Mars surface model is being developed for simulation of vehicle dynamics, mobility and navigation capabilities. The model provides a topological representation of surface features and is suitable for interface with dynamic simulations of Mars Rover vehicles including models of wheel-soil interaction and vision systems. Portions of the surface model have been completed and can be interfaced with other portions of an overall vehicle performance assessment system also being developed for the Mars Rover program.
