Paper Abstract

Processing and analysis of terrain data are essential tasks of path planning and navigation. This paper describes an assortment of massively parallel algorithms for processing and analysis of terrain data to support path planning and navigation. These algorithms were implemented on the Martin Marietta geometric arithmetic parallel processor array consisting of 108 x 384 processing elements. Their applications in path planning and navigation of low-altitude combat aircrafts are discussed.
