A High-Sensitivity PRIZ/Image Intensifier Spatial Light Modulator

Paper Abstract

Optically addressed spatial light PRIZ modulators are used as input devices in coherent optical information processing systems. These modulators have a high information recording density (ZIO' bit/cm2) and provide low intrinsic noises of coherent optical spectrum analyzers and correlators. In our experiments we used the BIM spatial light modulator in coqinatiqn with image intensifier to increase sensitivity up to =10-5 J/am' and to get a broader wavelength range for the recording light. The transfer function and speed of operation of the PRIZ/image intensifier device have been studied. The use of the new device for recording real-time holograms of diffusely scattering objects is discussed.
