Paper Abstract

A field of measurement, previously outside the scope of conventional instrumentation, is the recording and evaluation of relatively low radiant intensity sources travelling at velocities up to Mach 5. This is the situation obtaining with tracers, pyrotechnic sources fitted at the rear of projectiles to local the direction of fire and position of impact at the target of gun-launched ammunition. The tracer intensity monitor has been designed and developed to record and measure the radiance of these tracers in flight.
