Paper Abstract

A set of electromagnetic, thermal and shaded computer graphics models that form the basis for passive infra-red band imagery simulations are presented. Pertinent theory is also reviewed. Applications of the simulation system are illustrated graphically with plots and simulated imagery for a typical infrared sensor system. The simulation system presented here represents a significant improvement in IR modeling in terms of scene realism and total simulation flexibility. This approach uses a geometric scene, environment, and sensor that are each functionally separate in models.
