Paper Abstract

The highlights of X-ray Astronomy are reviewed spanning the years 1960 to the present. Examples of various types of X-ray sources are discussed both for galactic and extragalactic objects. The observational data and possible models are presented. The future of X-ray Astronomy is explored. The planned observations for the 1970 fs and 1980 Ts are presented as well as the connections between astrophysics and X-ray astronomy.
