Paper Abstract

The efficiency of blazed holographic gratings, fabricated by Fourier synthesis are studied. Such Fourier gratings combine many of the attractive properties of holographic gratings, with the high efficiency of ruled gratings. We show that it is possible to superimpose two sinusoidal exposures with the required high precision, to obtain gratings with high, and even efficiency over the grating surface. The measured efficiencies agree within a few percent to calculated efficiency curves in the region studied, 250 - 700 nm.
