Paper Abstract

Simulation results of the reconstruction of a line sequential chroma image are presented in this paper. It is shown that the conventional coding method yields undesirable color artifacts. By vertical digital prefiltering the color signals prior to coding, significant reduction of artifacts can be achieved. A further improvement can be achieved by a simple post-filtering during reconstruction. Additional horizontal color resolution can also be achieved at the expense of diagonal resolution by offset sampling the image. A two-dimensional filter is used to preshape the image spectrum. The generation of this 2D filter is discussed in this paper.
