Pulsed laser-induced forming of thin sheet metal

Paper Abstract

The experimental study regarding the laser bending of sheet metal parts of various shapes at different irradiation conditions is reported. The present work is carried out using Nd: YAG laser (average power of 200 W, pulse duration of 0.1 - 10 ms). Plates made of alloyed steel of various grades and having thickness from 0.3 to 1.1 mm were used as samples. Formation of laser beam path on the odd-shaped parts was executed by the programmable 6-axis robot Motoman SSF-2000.
