Paper Abstract

Many computational imaging technologies introduced in the last several years use optical, mechanical, sensor, illumination and computational degrees of freedom to enable special system characteristics. The general computational imaging framework will be discussed along with the value of some specific approaches. A more in-depth analysis of the extended depth of field class of solutions is described which includes a method for visualizing the efficiency and comparing the SNR of the many approaches, the value of extended depth of field solutions and a simplified design approach that does not require tools beyond what the designer is currently accustomed.
