Paper Abstract

3-D Lidar systems are capable of measuring complex three-dimensional scenes. Like traditional two dimensional imaging systems, 3-D lidar systems have limitations that limit the spatial resolution of the measured data. Herein two types of lidar resolution targets are presented, a point reflector target and an MTF bar target, for the calculation of spatial resolution. Supporting analysis points to their utility and indicates the results derived via MTF for the point source and CTF derived from the bar target are well within similarity expectations and are consistent with typical comparisons of CTF and MTF curves.
