Optimization of axial optical force acting on an array of overlapping spheres

Paper Abstract

We considered a prolate cylindrical object made from overlapping spheres placed into the standing wave. By tuning the radius and overlap of these spheres we found the optimal shape providing maximal axial optical force. Analytical results are presented for an object formed from weakly polarizable spheres.
