Analysis of resonant frequency in moving magnet linear compressor

Paper Abstract

With the development of the high performance IR detectors, the more high reliable cryocoolers are needed. Today, most tactical linear coolers are qualified for MTTF 8,000h or above, customers desire to improve MTTF of cryocooler and reduce the cost of cooler. So the moving magnet linear compressor is a very good choice with MTTF nearly up to 20,000h. This paper analyzes resonant frequency of moving magnet linear compressor. Results show that the resonant frequency of the moving magnet linear compressors is affected by the machine spring, the gas spring, the magnetic spring, and the mass of moving assembly. But the resonant frequency of the moving coil linear compressors is only affected by the machine spring, the gas spring, and the mass of moving assembly. The magnetic spring will affect efficiency of the compressor, so it should be reduced during designing the moving magnet linear compressor.
