Paper Abstract

Meeting the requirement of endurance and mission duration is one of the major challenges in the design of micro-autonomous vehicles. Various power source options and their properties for micro-autonomous vehicles are reviewed. Strategies to maximize the mission duration within the constraints of mass and volume for micro-autonomous vehicles are discussed. This paper explores the use of hybridization, multifunctional integration concepts, elimination of ancillary components and operational strategies as means of achieving the endurance goals for micro-autonomous vehicles.
