Paper Abstract

In this letter, we have proposed a novel compact terahertz wave switch based on photonic crystals. The OFF-ON mechanism of the novel terahertz wave switch is based on a dynamic shift of the photonic band gap. The two-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to investigate switch properties of the terahertz wave switch. The simulation results show that the terahertz wave switch size is about 6.8mm. The novel terahertz wave switch can be used in future terahertz-wave communication and detection systems.
