Paper Abstract

An event-based spatio-temporal data model or event-oriented approach is either raster-based or vector-based and thus the models fail to handle evolving geographical phenomena and spatio-temporal objects simultaneously. The focus of this paper is on an event-based spatio-temporal data model with integrated vector and raster data structure. In this paper, the framework of ESTDMVR was described, the two basic components of which were designed by hierarchically to manage grid cells and spatial topology respectively, and explicit event instances and implicit event instances stored in RDBMS were organized to represent changes of grid cells or an entity, and a land use database with our spatio-temporal modeling approach fulfills the requirements for spatial, temporal, and spatio-temporal queries was implemented.
