The delimitation and forecasting technique study of Meiyu season in Chinese Yangtze-Huaihe river basin

Paper Abstract

The monsoon circulation is an important component of global large-scale circulation system. Its happening, short and middle oscillation and annual variation all have a close relation with the seasonal variation of global large scale circulation. To understand the basic monsoon structure better we should know the general feature of global large-scale circulation. China is a typical monsoon area and the Meiyu season of Yangtze-Huaihe river basin is its most important component. Meiyu always caused enormous economic losses. Local government pay many attention on its beginning and end period. But Now there are many delimitation standards and results according to recently study. Most of them only used several index. We think the complex Meiyu question cannot be summarized by several index. So we have studied the meiyu average circulation by using the grid date covering the period of last 50 years from NCEP (NCAR REANL PROJECT) and local historic date. Under this background, the 50 years beginning and end day was given. Also, some forecasting technique in operation use of Meiyu feature was found in the paper.
