Paper Abstract

The concept and required properties of BRDF (bidirectional reflectance distribution function) are discussed in the paper. The application of the BRDF measurement in several fields is analyzed and summarized, such as vegetation monitoring, soil resource remote sensing, monitoring the environment and climate, and suppressing the stray light etc. We design the multi-stage coilgun system by ourselves, in which the bidirectional reflectance is used to measure the projectile position. No matter how many stages the driving coil adopts, only one set of the optical irradiation-receiver unit is needed. Integrated designs show the configuration of the multi-stage coilgun becomes very simple and the projectile is easy to be controlled based on the BRDF measurement technique.
