A novel scheme of all-optical label swapping for optical packet networks based on SOA-assisted interferometers

Paper Abstract

We propose and demonstrate a novel all-optical label swapping technique incorporates wavelength conversion simultaneously used in optical packet networks, which based on SOA-insisted interferometers. With proper design parameters of the SOAs and the input data, this scheme is proved to allow efficient and stable operation in simulation. More over, no guard band between the label and packet is needed to perform switching in the incoming data. With parameters' optimization, the scheme is competent for high operation rate of the packet. The SOA parameters and the signal parameters are studied and designed to optimize the switching performance. Through numerical analysis, the operation of the scheme with 40Gb/s and 2.5Gb/s RZ PRBS in packet and label respectively, performs with high performance.
