Paper Abstract

This paper presents an approach for extracting three dimensional information, using an autofocus lens coupled to a single camera vision system. The camera gives a plain view of the subject under surveillance. The use of the autofocus lens yields the third dimension depth, needed in guidance and control operations for robotic applications. The robotic machine vision system is combined with the range determination feature and the complete system is seen as providing the essential ingredients for flexible and robust robotic guidance.
