Segmentation of color images using Peano curves on a transputer array

Paper Abstract

A method is described for the segmentation of colored images, having pre-processed them with a data reducing method described previously. The segmentation proposed is based on the split and merge algorithms of Pavlidis, but uses fractal methods (Peano curves) rather than quad-trees which are usually associated with the technique. The method shows a speed improvement over the original method due to reduced computational complexity.
