On the Pareto/M/c and Pareto/M/1/K queues

Paper Abstract

Many analytic and numerical techniques have appeared in literature to evaluate performance measures of queueing systems with heavy-tail distributed interarrival times. In this paper, we take the advantage of having a closed-form expression for the Laplace transform of Pareto probability distributions in order to have a better setting to evaluate the different performance measures of Pareto queueing systems. We consider the Pareto distributed interarrival times as a particular case of general and independent arrivals queueing systems with exponentially distributed service times, i.e. {\sc GI/M/...} queueing systems.
