Paper Abstract

To estimate the melanin and hemoglobin concentrations in the human skin tissue, we propose a method of using the multiple regression analysis combined with the Monte Carlo technique for spectral reflectance from the skin surface. In the method, the Monte Carlo simulation was used to prepare data sets of various concentrations and absorbance spectra for determination of conversion coefficients from the absorbance to the concentration in the regression analysis. Numerical simulation was conducted for a two-layered skin tissue model to verify the usefulness of the present method.
