Paper Abstract

New techniques for an ultrafast all-optical processor: ULTIMATE for temporal-spatial information processing and conversion are presented. ULTIMATE utilizes ultra-short laser pulses (femto-second laser pulses) as a light source and adopts a novel architecture considering their physical properties. In this talk, we describe new techniques for ultrafast all-optical processors that can convert an input two-dimensional (2-D) spatial object into a modulated ultrafast optical pulse sequence and can retrieve the 2-D spatial image from the temporal signals transmitted through optical fiber channel with ultrahigh bandwidth.
