Paper Abstract

A theory is developed for evaluation of irradiation induced phase phenomena in optical fibers. The new optical method for control of various ionizing radiations is discussed. The special interest represents the potential ability for control of thermal neutrons and charged particles of low energies. The base of the method makes up the phenomena: the irradiation induced changes of elastic characteristics and refractive indexes of an optical fiber. The method for investigating the irradiation induced strains in optical fibers is discussed.
