Paper Abstract

A compact Q-switched diode-pumped double-clad Yb3+-doped fiber laser was described. By using conventional Q-switching technique and exploiting nonlinearity in the core of the gain fiber, the laser operated at a repetition rate of 1.5kHz with an peak power over 13.3kW, pulse width of 5.2ns and pulse energy of 80 µ J. The output wavelength was tunable from 1080nm to 1119nm with a line width less than 0.2nm.
