Paper Abstract

Adaptive arrays do not naturally produce low sidelobes, except in the point directions of interferences; an additional constraint of some kind is required to maintain low sidelobes. Four system are considered here, three using soft constraints and one hard constraints. Two of the soft constraint systems, through defined differently, are shown to be equivalent. These two methods require a matrix giving the total sidelobe 'power'; this matrix is derived and discussed. Some simulation result are presented.
